Moving Small Business Server

Windows Small Business Server (SBS) is a low-cost edition of Windows Server 2000/2003 that is designed for small businesses. SBS includes several pre-installed server applications. The applications typically include Exchange, IIS, SharePoint, and SQL Server.

When SBS is your only domain controller there is no way to protect Active Directory against the failure of the SBS computer. Microsoft does not support restoring the System State backup from one computer to a second computer of a different make, model, or hardware configuration (Q249694).

UMove can rescue Active Directory from a failed standalone Small Business Server and reliably move it to different computer hardware.

One SBS Domain Controller

You are generally limited to one SBS domain controller in the forest, per Q295765 and Q884453. Intended for small organizations, the SBS server is often the only domain controller for the whole organization.

UMove gives you a safe and reliable backup and disaster-recovery solution for SBS.
