Moving Terminal Server Licenses

The Terminal Service Licensing database keeps track of Terminal Server Client Application Licenses (TSCALs). Each remote user or remote computer that accesses Terminal Server requires a TSCAL.

Activating Terminal Server Licensing

When you install Terminal Services, you have 120 days in which to contact Microsoft to activate your Terminal Services License Server.

When moving Active Directory, UMove can optionally also move the the Terminal Server license information to your replacement computer. This includes the activation status of your Terminal Services Licensing Server and your TSCAL database.

Because of the danger of losing your TSCAL database (and disrupting your users access to Terminal Services) UMove will move the Terminal Server Licensing database by default.
